July 2014

BUSINESS Queen Anne's would like to congratulate all those who made it through the primaries and thank all of those who took the time to come and talk to the board. We heard many statements about the need for economic development, reducing piggyback taxes and job development right here in the County. While we applaud these aspirations, we sincerely hope the effort remains strong and committed to success when our new commissioners begin in earnest this November! And remember, BQA is a great resource for information, new ideas and support in these areas and we encourage a continued dialogue. There is much work to be done delivering on those campaign promises, working with all sides in order to achieve agreement and doing all this in an economic environment that is still not healed at the local, State or Federal level!

As for the incumbents who were not re-elected, we sincerely Thank You for your time, service, dedication and clear expertise given the successes! While you inherited an $18million deficit, you've done much to get our County's finances back on track and heading the right direction! Let's hope we keep moving positively in that direction for the good of all Queen Anne's County residents, families, taxpayers, businesses and entrepreneurs!

According to the Clean Chesapeake Coalition website, Harford County is the latest to join!

See the article here!
The Chairman of the Coalition, Ron Fithian, also reports that there will probably be an extension for the re-licensing, but he's not sure how long.

Stay Tuned!!

QAC has another important upcoming election, BQA seeks support both in member numbers and sponsor dollars to keep our momentum going!  Recall the last election, support we received allowed us to run positive, verifiable, fact based ad's which helped counter confusing & at times misleading information being presented to County voters.  The entrenched groups against growth have a record, we'd like to remind the County of that record when the new campaign promises of compromise or working together start ramping up in earnest!  The undeniable fact is their record clearly shows they've an unwavering adherence to No Growth anywhere, anyhow in QAC!  BQA has great faith in Queen Anne's County voters, especially when they're fully informed as to the issues, including cost/benefit analysis, with balanced information.
