|BROADBAND ADVISORY FORMED APPLICANTS SOUGHT|
The Queen Anne's County Commissioners formally established a Broadband Advisory Council and the citizens who serve on it will be charged with the county's goal of bringing broadband to all county residents.
Commissioner Robert Buckey said, "Through this fresh approach I hope to see more engagement from county citizens and business, forging a consensus between all parties will be key this time around in developing a joint approach promoting broadband for public benefit and business expansion."
Commissioner Mark Anderson concurred and added, "Providing our citizens and businesses with connection to the internet is a high priority. Technology in this area becomes more sophisticated daily. Our advisory board will be a step forward to examine the latest in WIFI and fiber delivery available to our county with its diverse geography at reasonable cost - a sometimes difficult combination of ingredients."
The commissioners voted for Resolution No. 18-01, the first resolution of the year, which reads, "The Broadband Advisory Council shall be comprised of members appointed by the County Commissioners and shall include up to two citizens residing in each County Commissioner District, one representative from the broadband industry who shall not necessarily be a resident of Queen Anne's County, the Queen Anne's County Director of Budget, Finance and Information Technology, the Queen Anne's County Manager of Information Technology, a liaison from the County Commissioners and an alternate who shall serve in the absence of any other member."
The new members will initially be given staggered terms of 1 to 3 years, then future terms will be for three years.
"The Broadband Advisory Council shall advise and provide recommendations to the County Commissioners on the provision of broadband services and infrastructure in Queen Anne's County," states the resolution.
Anyone interested in serving on the Broadband Advisory Council is encouraged to send a letter of interest and resume to email@example.com
or via mail to QAC Commissioner, Att: Lynda Thomas, 107 N. Liberty Street, Centreville, MD 21617. The deadline for applications is February 28, 2018 .
Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) is seeking input to update the Maryland Transportation Plan. This is a long range plan that helps identify the policies, goals and objectives for MDOT over a 20 year planning period.
Providing your input now can help Queen Anne's County achieve our transportation goals. The survey is general but it does allow for comments to be typed in for consideration by MDOT. Please take the survey and please consider the transportation priorities of Queen Anne's County (Link to the Priority Letter is below) when typing in your comments.
